20030220 Sapa

Travelled overnight by train from Hanoi, I reached the hill station the next day early morning and transferred by van navigating through the winding mountain roads for 1.5 hr before arriving at the final destination. Setting blissfully at the elevation of 1,650 meters on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, Sapa is the hill station built in 1922 and a fine resort town in the northwest of Vietnam. In downtown Sapa, you will see ethnic people adorned in colourful hill tribe costumes walking the streets. The H’ Mong and the Dzao are the largest ethnic groups of this region. Most of the attractions outside the city relate to nature such as trekking and making an excursion. At night, the blaring KaraOK could be heard outside the restaurants. Nothing else.
