The Balinese are Hindu/animist, unlike the rest of predominantly Muslim Indonesia. Balinese’ beautiful unique culture and the beaches are the main factors drawing tourists to holiday on this tiny island. On 12-Oct-2002, merciless terrorists bombed the resort town of Kuta, killed >200 people and injured hundreds. The incident had driven out lots of tourists and resulted severe economy plunged, where most Balinese rely closely to tourism related industries. Just about the foreigners start to regain their confidence to Bali, another bomb blasted 2 years later. This would definitely tarnish the reputation of this island. The accommodation and transportation are relatively cheap, but the foods are not so delicious (in general).
